Flagship $1.5 million event – the largest golf event to be held in the country - takes place at Madinaty Golf Course from November 10-13
October 26, 2022 – Cairo: The Asian Tour will be breaking new ground in Egypt next month when some of the biggest names in world golf land in Cairo for the inaugural International Series Egypt tournament at the Madinaty Golf Club from November 10-13.
The lucrative $1.5million tournament marks the tour’s first ever appearance in Egypt, and the Robert Trent Jones Jr-designed course is a fitting setting for the largest golf event ever staged in the country, one of the Asian Tour’s series of flagship events.
“This season the Asian Tour has made major strides with the International Series events, and it is fitting that this flagship tournament marks our first appearance on the ground in Egypt, a country with such rich golfing potential.” said Cho Minn Thant, Commissioner and CEO, Asian Tour.
“The International Series events are a real gamechanger – for the professional golfers playing for bigger purses, through to the region’s brightest talents who will benefit from the experience on this pathway to growth and development that we have created.
“The series also has a genuine impact on the economies and the communities in the destinations we visit. By adding Egypt to the calendar, the Asian Tour and International Series events are bringing growth and development to an important golfing market on many levels.”
The International Series Egypt is the sixth event of the season on the Asian Tour’s new flagship series, launched earlier this year thanks to a $300 million commitment from LIV Golf to the Asian Tour to invigorate the game in Asia and the Middle East.
The landmark partnership between the Asian Tour and LIV Golf has already brought the International Series to Thailand, England, Singapore and South Korea, before moving to the MENA region for back-to-back tournaments in Morocco and Egypt on consecutive weeks.
The series kicked off in March, with American star Sihwan Kim claiming victory at Black Mountain Golf Club before Scott Vincent of Zimbabwe secured the title in England in June. Nitithorn Thippong and Taehoon OK won back-to-back tournaments in Singapore and Korea in August.
The International Series Egypt takes place from November 10-13 at Madinaty Golf Club, in Cairo and entrance to the event is free. For further details please visitasiantour.com.
