Golf industry veteran Nick Tarratt has been appointed as Golf Consultant for the Egyptian Golf Federation.

Tarratt, 65 years-old, a former scratch golfer, began his career at The Belfry, England as a Tournament Controller for The PGA and the WPGA (now the Ladies European Tour). In that time he refereed at The Ryder Cup matches in 1985, hosted at The Belfry.

After being a key member of the organizing team of the Bells Scottish Open at Gleneagles Hotel in the late 1990’s working for Keith Prowse Agency, he first moved to Dubai in 1990 as Golf Secretary at the Emirates Golf Club.

After enhanced roles as GM of Dubai Golf & Racing Club (now Meydan Golf) and then as GM of the UAE Golf Association (now the Emirates Golf Federation) with a role including being the Championship Director of the Dubai Desert Classic.

He then spent three years in Cairo, Egypt as GM of Katameya Heights Golf & Tennis Resort, before returning to the UAE as EMAAR Golf Advisor.

In 2008 he was appointed the first Director of the Middle East for the European Tour (now the DP World Tour) as head of the region involved with the DP World Tour Championship and all other DP World Tour and European Tour Group activities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

His new role will be to engage with the entire golf industry in Egypt in a collaborative  initiative as well as, longer term, to drive golf tourism in the country.

Omar Talaat Mustafa, President of the Egyptian Golf Federation (EGF), commented, ‘We are delighted to have Nick on board with the EGF. He has an impressive CV across all sectors of the golf industry and is one of the leading golf administrators in, at least the MENA region and beyond. We look forward to seeing how Nick’s experience and contacts can impact the EGF, both short and long-term.’

Tarratt responded, ‘These are exciting times for Egypt Golf and I am ready for the challenge ahead. I worked in Egypt in the early 2000’s – so I am aware of most of the golf clubs and industry personnel. My first project will be to raise the profile of all golf activities in the country, all anchored through the EGF’s website, www.egyptiangolffederation.com. I am ready to hit the ground running.’
