Let’s have a look at Madinaty Golf Club, Cairo.
It will be co-host, along with Katameya Dunes Golf Club, the Pan Arab Junior and Ladies Championship to be played 7th – 10th May, 2025.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr, the 18-hole award winning championship golf course is the envy of many in the country.
In November, 2022 it hosted one of the biggest events on the Asian Tour’s global calendar – the International Series – Egypt which received global TV coverage.
Boasting a prize fund of $1.5 million it was won by Andy Ogletree (US), with the golf course played at a par 70, 6,396 yards.
120 players were in the field with the 36-hole cut falling at one over par.
Ogletree shot an impressive 23 under-par for 72-holes for a four-shot victory from Bernd Wiesberger (Aut).
He shot rounds of 66, 64, 65 and 62, in a birdie festival.
Ogletree now plays on the LIV Golf Tour for Phil Mickelson’s HyFyers GC along with an All-American team including Bredan Steele and Cameron Tringale to complete the four-man team.
Korean Jeunghun Wang (64) and Sihwan Kim (65) from the United States tied for third, seven behind the winner. The result saw Sihwan Kim return to the top of the Asian Tour Order of Merit list.
‘This is amazing, just incredible,’ said the star from Little Rock, Mississippi, on completing his win, who earned a cheque for $270,000.
‘I have always been a huge fan of Matchplay and that is kind of what it came to in the end, it was basically a two man-race. I just tried to keep matching what he was doing, I kept making a lot of putts. Fortunately, I was able to play better than Bernd, he’s a great player and it was really awesome to come out on top.’
Ogletree is now 27 years-old, played on the golf team at the prestigious Georgia Tech University, won the US Amateur in 2019 and was part of the victorious American team at the Walker Cup the same year. He turned professional the following year.
The HyFlyers GC Team are currently in eighth in the 2025 LIV Golf team table with Ogletree placed 45th in the Individual Table.
